Morawiec: We like the term 're-imagined.' Early in the project, we had to make the decision whether to simply port the old game(s), develop a remake, or create V8: Part III. Explain the content within Vigilante 8: Arcade. IGN: We understand that this game is neither a true sequel to the second game, but nor is it a true port. However, the founding members are all industry vets, having previously founded Luxoflux and developed both the Vigilante 8 and True Crime franchises, among many other games. Morawiec: Vigilante 8: Arcade is our first title under Isopod. IGN: What other projects has Isopod worked on? So, by choosing XBLA we are in fact providing massively more value per dollar to the player  V8: Arcade has virtually all of the functionality of the original, plus, a full new online experience. However, V8 always was a very focused 'arcade' title and we felt that we could deliver a full next-gen version of the game within the 150MB allotted by XBLA, sans cinematics and a few music tracks perhaps. Much of that time is spent on things like cinematics, additional game modes, mini-games, and other extras to justify a full retail price. Morawiec: A full retail title requires big budgets, large teams, and long development cycles. IGN: Why not make this a full-fledged retail release and make a XBLA title instead? Also, with nearly a decade gone by, it seemed like the perfect time to re-introduce the fun of V8 car-combat to a new generation of gamers. Having developed the original V8 games, it's a property we know and love and from the countless e-mails Luxoflux received over the years, we knew that there were still many fans of the franchise. However, when we started Isopod back in early 2007, we thought that V8 would make for a great first title. Also, it seemed that the market moved away from car-combat during the previous generation. After Luxoflux's successes with True Crime: Streets of LA and Shrek 2, the studio could never find an opportune time (and enough people) to do another installment. IGN: Where has the Vigilante 8 series been for all these years? We recently sat down with Peter Morawiec, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Isopood Labs, the developers behind V8: Arcade to discuss everything from how much the game will cost to what new features are making their way to the Xbox 360 iteration.

The release is a re-imagining of the vehicular combat seen in the originals complete with new single and multiplayer gameplay. JA few months ago Activision announced that they'd be bringing the classic Vigilante 8 series back to consoles in the form of Vigilante 8: Arcade for the Xbox Live Arcade.
